The three golden Buddha statues at Swayambhu Amideva Buddha Park, Kathmandu, Nepal

Amideva Buddha Park, a serene and iconic site near Swayambhunath Temple, is home to a magnificent trio of towering statues. At the heart of the park stands the 67-foot-tall Shakyamuni Buddha, representing the historic Buddha who began his journey as Siddhartha Gautama. This statue embodies Buddha’s Amitabha (Amideva) form, symbolizing longevity and holding a massive bowl filled with the nectar of immortality.

To the left of Shakyamuni Buddha stands the 64-foot-tall Chenrezig, also known as Avalokitesvara. Revered as the most compassionate of all Bodhisattvas, he responds to those who chant the mantra “Om Mani Padme Hum.” With his many arms, Chenrezig reaches out to aid countless beings in need and is regarded as an incarnation of the Dalai Lama.

On the right side stands Guru Rinpoche, also known as Guru Padmasambhava, also at 64 feet tall. A fully enlightened master, Guru Rinpoche is the guardian of primordial wisdom and is credited with introducing Vajrayana (Tantric) teachings to the world. Together, these statues make Amideva Buddha Park a profound site of spiritual significance and tranquility.
