Cape Cross Seal Colony

Today Cape Cross is a protected area owned by the government of Namibia under the name Cape Cross Seal Reserve. The reserve is the home of one of the largest colonies of Cape fur seals in the world, with approximately 80 000 to 100 000 of these so-called ‘seals’, which are in fact a species of sea lion. The seals can be viewed from a walkway at a distance of roughly 200 metres.
