MORONDAVA –(MADAGASKAR) – KIRINDY

MORONDAVA – MADAGASKAR We took a local flight from Antananarivo to Morondava. Morondava is located 700km from the capital Antananarivo and can be reached in one hour by plane. Due to the bad roads, a car trip from Antananarivo to Morondava takes 11 to 18 hours. Morondava is a town on Madagascar’s west coast. It’s the gateway to the Avenue of the Baobabs, where massive baobab trees tower over the landscape. Nearby, Kirindy Forest is home to lemurs and carnivorous, catlike fossas. Farther north, Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park has jagged limestone pinnacles connected by rope bridges and walkways. South of the city, ships are built by hand on Belo sur Mer’s sandy lagoon An absolute must for Morondava travelers is a visit to the spectacular Baobab Avenue. Baobabs, or baobabs, have thick trunks that can store a lot of water, and only a few gnarled branches at the very top. Legend has it that each animal was once given a tree by the gods – and the hyena planted hers upside down.
