Perito Moreno Glacier

From El Calafate it is an 80 km Bus ride to Los Glaciares National Park. The bus stopped in between many places to take photos of beautiful scenic sports. After entering the Andean Patagonian forest, we stopped at the “Curva de los Suspiros”  (Sighs Curve) to enjoy the first panoramic  view of the Perito Moreno Glacier.

The Perito Moreno Glacier is one of the largest in Patagonia at 30 kilometers long. The glacier descends from the Southern Patagonian Ice field— some 2100 meters elevation in the Andes Mountains—down into the water and warmer altitudes of Lago Argentino at 180 meters above sea level.Located in Argentina’s Los Glaciares National Park, Perito Moreno Glacier covers an incredible 97 square miles. It is 19 miles long, 3 miles wide, and 560 feet thick.Perito Moreno Glacier is one of 48 glaciers located in the Andes system and fed by the Southern Patagonian Ice Field. The Glacier forms part of the Patagonian Continental Ice Field from which 13 Glaciers descent on the Atlantic side to flow into the Viedma and Argentino lakes, is one of the few in the world which still advances forming a wall and containing the Brazo rico waters. Every 4 to 5 years, the water pressure is so strong that it breaks into multiple icicles giving an overwhelming spectacle that is truly impossible to explain. The continuous slides from its frozen walls astonish us at any time throughout the year. Get amazed and bewildered by the Patagonian Andes Lakes, forests and mountains stretching for 500 kilometers and massive glaciers falling into the world’s southernmost seas.
